This policy paper outlines a series of internal and external strategies to maximise the benefits of the Türkiye-Iraq Development Road Project for the Turkish economy. Key internal strategies include infrastructure modernisation, a sector-specific approach, the establishment of Special Economic Zones, enhanced logistics and digitalisation, and the development of a skilled labour force. On the external front, strategies such as integrating the project with other trade corridors, attracting foreign direct investment, and organising thematic symposiums and workshops are proposed. At a time when global and regional risks are disrupting commercial flows, the alternative trade routes proposed by the Development Road Project, in conjunction with these strategies, are expected to deliver substantial economic benefits for Türkiye.
